Boon's Boracay & Manila Trip (3rd - 8th July): Day 1

My Worst flight experience

Supposed to reach Boracay @ 7am, instead I reached at 10pm.

- Jetstar Flight Singapore to Manila Delayed by 2 hours

- Missed my First connecting Flight to Caticlan (Boracay)

- Bought my Second Connecting Flight

- Plane Hovered around Manila Airport for 30mins & could not land

- Landed in Clark Airport (Boarded & Alighted the flight TWICE)

- Captain announced that Bus was arranged to bring us from Clark to Manila after 3 hours!

- After the custom clearance, realized no transport was provided.

- Missed my second Connectiing Flight.

- Paid S$150 for 2-hr Cab ride from Clark to Manila

- Reached Manila to realize that ALL flights to Caticlan (Boracay) had been canceled, & earliest flight was next day.

- Bought my Third connecting flight to Kalibo Airport (2hr land journey away from Caticlan)

- Flight to Kalibo was slightly delayed (What's new?!?!)

- The plane went to runaway and turned back (Technical fault, gotta change plane)

- Blackout in Plane for a few minutes (What can be worse??)

- Changed to another Plane

- Reached Kailbo & overland journey to Caticlan was 2 hrs.

- Ferry from Caticlan to Boracay

Finally.... after traveling for 20hours, I reached BORACAY.

There are too many first times... missing connecting flight, blackout in plane etc....

Well, this reminded me not to take Singapore's efficiency for granted.

First Time Seeing a Captain apologizing to passengers

Despite being a good speaker and seemingly sincere, he was a liar as there was no bus arranged to bring us from Clark Airport to Manila Airport.

First time arriving in a country and just walked past the Customs

First time seeing advertisement on the arrival card

While it was novel, I felt that it was cheap as well.

Shall we have advertisement on the passports or ID cards?

First time seeing so many delayed flights

Taken in the manila airport while waiting impatiently to check-in.

I was learning to accept inefficiency as part of life

I always say that Singapore should be thankful towards our neighbouring countries for being corrupted, inefficient, lazy etc... That's why Singapore has a place in this world. Let's hope they continue with their current mindset.

On the other hand, even though having a relax & take-it-easy attitude towards life makes the general Filipino rather inefficient, it probably brings them more happiness as they might have less pressure to perform and hit certain benchmark/standard.
